Trump's Strong Address, A Passionate Defense Of Life, Our Divisions

Trump's Strong Address

As President Trump said last night, the state of our union is strong.  And so too was his performance!

This was one of the best State of the Union addresses I have ever witnessed.  And I have witnessed some great ones, especially when I served in the Reagan White House.

Northam's Nonsense, A Few Observations, Anti-Semitism In Congress

Northam's Nonsense

As you know, Big League Politics broke a huge story late Friday.  It discovered that Virginia Governor Ralph Northam's (D) 1984 medical school yearbook page featured two men -- one in blackface and one in KKK robes.  What transpired next was one of the most bizarre examples of crisis management I have ever seen.

In spite of the media's hair-on-fire coverage that the longest-ever government shutdown would cause a recession, the January jobs report "shattered expectations."  More than 300,000 new jobs were created last month.

A Needed Discussion

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam made headlines yesterday for his remarks on late-term abortions.  Here's what the governor said:

Promoting Infanticide, Anti-Semitism In Congress, Record Cold

Promoting Infanticide

The radical left has been promoting abortion for decades.  But even though the American people are overwhelmingly opposed to late-term abortions, pro-abortion politicians are now promoting what amounts to infanticide.

Ready For 2020?

We're just a few months past the 2018 elections, but the 2020 campaign is already in high gear.  Every day it seems like someone else jumps into the presidential contest.
Here's the list of who's in so far:

South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg
Former San Antonio mayor and HUD Secretary Julian Castro
Former Rep. John Delaney (D-MD)
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI)
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA)
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)

The Countdown Begins, The Challenger Disaster, Never Again

The Countdown Begins

The one-fourth of the federal government that was closed is officially open today.  But there is no sign of compromise coming from the left when it comes to the construction of new barriers at the southern border.  And so the countdown to the February 15th deadline for congressional negotiators to reach a deal on a homeland security package begins.

Yesterday the Senate failed to act on two proposals to end the shutdown.  As a result, 800,000 federal workers missed their second paycheck today.

This morning, major airports began reporting serious flight delays due to an "increase in sick leave."  Flights at New York's LaGuardia airport ground to a halt.  Several air traffic controllers in Texas reportedly resigned.

Address Delayed

Late last night, President Trump decided to respect the prerogatives of the Speaker of the House.  He announced that he would delay the State of the Union address until the partial government shutdown ends.  Trump explained his decision this way:

"I am not looking for an alternative venue for the [State of the Union] Address because there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber."
